“A Game Of Political Karaoke” from NPR.org

“Most karaoke bars feature Love Shack or Love Train. This week in Denver it’s all about political karaoke. Can you raise a (bar) crowd like Sen. Obama or “re-speak” victory as well as John McCain did in New Hampshire?”

Another Protest Song: Karaoke With A Message

Angel Nevarez + Valerie Tevere’s Another Protest Song is a three-part project unfolding online, in NYC parks, and at the Democracy in America Convergence Center at Park Avenue Armory. Anotherprotestsong.org invites artists, songwriters, and musicians to create, upload, listen to, and eventually perform new songs of protest as part of a growing audio archive of politically engaged music. Users can contribute their recordings for upload, facilitating the construction of an online audio community and emerging archive of original political works (available as streaming audio on the site). While visiting Flushing Meadows-Corona and Prospect Parks, Nevarez and Tevere will invite the public to sing along to songs of protest with Another Protest Song: Karaoke with a Message. Their songbook will include the most thought-provoking, volatile, politically oriented songs of the 20th and 21st centuries. At the Convergence Center, Another Protest Song LIVE will gather select contributors to the website for a concert in Wade Thompson Drill Hall.
